The Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) is a national movement to change and improve the Canadian Sport System. It provides opportunities for all Canadians to participate in quality sport and physical activity, through-out their lifetime. The CS4L acknowledges the vital connection between sport, community recreation, health care and education in promoting children’s health and active living.
Canadian Sport for is a framework for developing and delivering sport and physical activity programs to children that is centred around their health, and their mental and physical stage of development. The Canadian Sport for Life model provides a safe and progressive pathway for children to pursue lifelong physical activity, and also offers a progressive pathway to high-performance sport.
Canadian Sport for Life promotes the teaching of movement and sport skills critical for children in various stages of development. Children with a solid foundation of movement education and skill development feel confident and engaged whether they participate in physical activity for fun, health, competition or the pursuit of excellence.
The Canadian Sport for Life framework is available for coaches, teachers, instructors and parents to learn about delivering quality sport and recreation programs for children and youth, and to support the development healthy activities that will last a lifetime.
Sport Manitoba is working with Provincial Sport Organizations and partners to embed the Canadian Sport for Life principles and program development though planning support, resource guides and presentations.
