Inducted 1996

Isny (Johnson) GallimoreIsny (Johnson) Gallimore enjoyed a remarkable career in bowling, golf and softball. When one looks at her impressive resume, two things stand out: (1) Two perfect 450 games in 5-pin bowling, in addition to numerous team championships and (2) three holes-in-one!

Gallimore launched her softball career with St. James Canucks intermediates in 1946, moved to senior ranks the next year with Dan Davidson before closing out her 11-year career with St. Vital and West Kildonan Tigerettes. She won the Greater Winnipeg batting crown in 1949 with a .371 average, and twice (1953 and 1954) was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. Six times she was a member of Winnipeg and Manitoba championship teams and four times was named to the all-star team.

In the sport of five-pin bowling, Gallimore also excelled. At the national level, she was a member of three Manitoba teams at the Western Canadian Championships. In 1961-62, she helped Manitoba win the Canadian Mixed title. At the provincial level, Gallimore was Singles Champion in 1955-56, and again in 1973-74, rolled a three-game 1,056 score in 1973 (second highest ever bowled in Winnipeg for ladies), posted the highest average - 265 - the same year, had a 996 three-game series in 1973-74. In 1968-69 she received the outstanding achievement award from the Buffalo Recreation League for high average for nine seasons. She was the Marathon Champion in 1959-60, won eight more City Team Championships plus a ten pin year to remember, 1973, Manitoba versus Curacao (Caribbean) when she rolled a ladies’ high 222 game and it was a career unparalleled on the hardwood.

In the sport of golf, Gallimore cracked the provincial seniors team in 1979, 1981 and 1985. In 1981 and 1985, Manitoba won the Canadian Ladies’ Handicap Team Championships with her aboard.
